What this index actually covers in the UK
Chessington, Legoland Windsor, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and the rest are not in this directory yet. If you need a UK shortlist from the parks we have indexed, the choice is Alton Towers in Staffordshire or Thorpe Park in Surrey. That is a real comparison with different jobs, not a round-up of every gate in the country.
| Park | Setting | Attractions listed | Height bands we list |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alton Towers | Staffordshire, England | 43 | 90 cm, 120 cm, 140 cm |
| Thorpe Park | Surrey, England | 28 | 130 cm, 140 cm |
Pick Alton Towers if the day needs room
Big rides among gardens, woodland and historic grounds. The site is a former estate: Forbidden Valley, Dark Forest and X-Sector are separate walks. That is tiring, and it is also why a mixed-height group can give 120 cm riders a real coaster block (Wicker Man, TH13TEEN) while 140 cm riders do Nemesis Reborn and The Smiler.
Headline listings: The Smiler, Nemesis Reborn, Wicker Man, Oblivion.
- Better for: mixed ages, a resort stay, people who want gardens and more than one type of coaster.
- Worse for: a short visit, anyone who hates walking, a group that only wants launches.
Pick Thorpe Park if the day is the coasters
A compact island park built around big-thrill rides. You are on an island. The walks are shorter. The height list is not: aside from Hyperia at 130 cm, the headline coasters we list are 140 cm.
Headline listings: Hyperia, Stealth, The Swarm, Colossus, SAW - The Ride, Nemesis Inferno.
- Better for: groups that all clear 140 cm, a concentrated thrill day, London-side travel to Surrey.
- Worse for: mixed-height families who needed Alton’s 120 cm band, anyone expecting a resort-garden day.
A blunt chooser
If the shortest rider is under 130 cm and you still want coasters, Alton Towers is the park in this index that has a 120 cm and 90 cm band. If everyone is 140 cm and you want launches and inversions in a small site, Thorpe Park. If you wanted a third UK park, it is not on this site yet — use the contact page rather than treating this as a national ranking.
