Who this covers

This policy is for themeparkindex.com, including www.themeparkindex.com. Theme Park Index is a personal site. There are no user accounts, newsletters or paid memberships.

Questions about privacy can go to [email protected].

Google Analytics

The main tracking on this site is Google Analytics 4, loaded with Google’s gtag.js script. It records things like which pages are opened, roughly where a visit came from (country or city, not a street address), device and browser type, and how someone arrived at the site.

Google sets analytics cookies (typically names starting with _ga) and processes that data on its own servers. Google’s own terms and privacy policy apply to that processing. We use the reports to see which parks and rides people look at, not to identify you personally.

You can block analytics cookies in your browser, use a content blocker, or install Google’s browser opt-out.

What we do not collect

We do not run accounts, store trip plans on a server, or keep a mailing list. The height checker, comparison tool and trip planner run in your browser for that visit. Nothing from those tools is saved to an account here.

We do not sell visitor data or use it for advertising networks.

Emails you send

If you email [email protected] — including a request to add a park or ride — we keep the message, your address and whatever you included so we can reply and, if relevant, update the directory. We do not use those emails for marketing.

Embedded videos

Some ride pages embed on-ride video from YouTube. Playing a video may let YouTube set cookies or collect data under Google’s policies, even when the embed uses youtube-nocookie.com. Thumbnails are loaded from YouTube as well.

Park maps

Some park pages show the operator’s illustrated guest map. Our server fetches that park’s current map PDF so it can be displayed here. Those maps belong to the park; we do not treat them as our own artwork.

Wait times

Some park and ride pages show current queue times from Queue-Times.com. Your browser requests that public JSON feed through this site so it can be matched to rides listed here. We do not send your name or email with those requests. Queue-Times has its own terms for that data.

How long data is kept

Google Analytics retention follows the setting in that Google account. Emails are kept for as long as they are useful for the site or a conversation, then deleted in the ordinary course of clearing the inbox.

Your choices

You can refuse analytics cookies, use the Google opt-out, or email if you want a copy of a message you sent or want it deleted. Browser settings and extensions are the practical way to limit Analytics.
