What this index actually covers
This is not a ranking of every German park. It is a comparison of two destination parks this directory documents in depth, with listed heights, specs and POVs.
| Park | Setting | Headline rides in this index | Height bands we list |
|---|---|---|---|
| Europa-Park | Rust, Baden-Württemberg | Silver Star, blue fire Megacoaster, Voltron Nevera, WODAN - Timburcoaster | 100 cm, 120 cm, 130 cm, 140 cm |
| Phantasialand | Brühl, North Rhine-Westphalia | Taron, F.L.Y. | 130 cm, 140 cm |
Pick Europa-Park if the weekend needs room
A destination resort made for more than one park day. Themed countries, on-site hotels, a hyper, two launches and a wooden coaster. Mixed-height groups still have Wodan at 120 cm and Matterhorn-Blitz at 100 cm.
- Better for: families, a two-day stay, people who want more than two headliners.
- Worse for: a short visit, anyone who only wanted Taron, guests who hate walking between countries.
Pick Phantasialand if the day is Taron and F.L.Y.
A compact park where the details are part of the ride. Compact, dense, capacity-constrained. Taron is a sit-down multi-launch through a canyon. F.L.Y. is a flying launch through Rookburgh. Both are 130 cm. Black Mamba is 140 cm if you want inversions.
- Better for: groups that all clear 130 cm, people who care about theming density, a focused day.
- Worse for: mixed-height families who needed Europa’s 100–120 cm band, anyone expecting a resort-garden wander.
A blunt chooser
If the shortest rider is under 130 cm and you still want coasters, Europa-Park is the park in this pair with a 120 cm woodie and a 100 cm listing. If everyone is 130 cm and you want two world-class launches on a tiny plot, Phantasialand. If you wanted a third German park, Efteling is in the Netherlands and a different mood.
Common questions
Is Europa-Park or Phantasialand better?
Europa-Park if you want hotels, space, and a mixed-height coaster list. Phantasialand if you want Taron and F.L.Y. on a small plot and you all clear 130 cm.
Can you do both in one trip?
Yes as a long weekend: two nights at Europa-Park, one day at Phantasialand, or the reverse. Not as a single exhausted Saturday.
