ABOUT THIS RIDE

What Shambhala is

Opened in 2012, Shambhala was built to sit next to Dragon Khan and share a footprint in the China area. Published height is 76 metres, speed 134 km/h, track about 1,564 metres. It is a hyper: airtime hills, no inversions, a water splash that looks bigger than it rides.

Dragon Khan, the 1995 B&M invertor next door, is the inversion coaster. Shambhala is the height coaster. Most thrill visitors at PortAventura ride both. Ferrari Land’s Red Force is a separate park/ticket question on the same resort.

Height is 140 cm. Catalonia summer queues are real — early entry or a late-evening ride is the practical advice.

What to expect

A long first drop, camelbacks, and a splashdown effect. Trains are B&M hyper trains with a lap bar, not a full over-the-shoulder cage.

Back row is the stronger airtime seat. Front row is the view of the drop and the lagoon.
