ABOUT THIS RIDE

What Formula Rossa is

Intamin opened Formula Rossa in 2010 on Yas Island. The published top speed is 240 km/h (about 149 mph) from a hydraulic launch. Goggles are part of the ride because of that speed. The layout after the launch is a long, fast course rather than a single spike.

Ferrari World is an indoor park with this coaster punching out of the red building. Flying Aces is the other major coaster on the same ticket if you want inversions and a wing-coaster layout instead of a land-speed record.

Height is 140 cm. The operator’s health and goggle rules are not optional. If 240 km/h is the reason you bought the ticket, watch the POV and read the official restrictions before you assume you will be allowed to ride.

What to expect

The launch is violent by coaster standards. The rest of the course stays fast through wide turns. There are no inversions on the main Formula Rossa circuit.

Goggles are provided. Sit still through the launch; this is not a scenic mine train.
