ABOUT THIS RIDE

What GhostRider is

Opened in 1998, GhostRider is the park’s landmark wooden coaster, running a dense timber structure next to the historic Ghost Town. Published speed is about 90 km/h. It has been retracked and reworked over the years; what you ride now is a maintained woodie, not a 1998 time capsule in every beam.

Knott’s also has steel thrill coasters (Xcelerator, HangTime). GhostRider is the one you hear from the midway. If you want inversions, this is not that page.

Height is 122 cm (48 in). Wooden rides are rougher than a new steel hyper. Watch the POV for the laterals through the structure.

What to expect

A long wooden layout with drops, turns and airtime, no inversions. Night rides in Ghost Town are part of the appeal.

Front vs back changes how much rumble you get. There is no glass-smooth seat on a woodie this size.
