ABOUT THIS RIDE

What TH13TEEN is

Intamin opened TH13TEEN in 2010 on the old Corkscrew plot in Dark Forest. Published top speed is about 67 km/h. The outdoor course is relatively gentle; the reason people search for this ride is the indoor section, where a section of track drops and shifts under the train.

The 120 cm minimum puts it in the same band as Wicker Man, so mixed-height groups often ride these two together and leave The Smiler and Oblivion for riders who meet 140 cm.

It is a crypt / abandoned-town theme, not a high-speed coaster. Watch the POV if someone in the group is fine with outdoor coasters but unsure about a sudden indoor drop in the dark.

What to expect

The first half is outdoor track with small drops and turns. The indoor finale is the surprise: a vertical drop of the track itself, then a sideways shift, then the brakes.

Front seats see the crypt arriving. Rear seats feel the drop-track movement more. Either row is a short ride.

FAQ

TH13TEEN questions

What is the drop on TH13TEEN?

A section of track inside the show building drops vertically under the train, then moves sideways. It is a drop-track effect, not a traditional lift-hill drop.

How tall do you need to be for TH13TEEN?

120 cm is the listed minimum. Check Alton Towers for the current rule.

Is TH13TEEN scarier than Wicker Man?

Wicker Man is a longer outdoor wooden coaster. TH13TEEN is slower overall but ends with an indoor drop in the dark. Which feels stronger depends on whether you mind surprise effects more than speed.
