ABOUT THIS RIDE

What Millennium Force is

Opened in 2000, Millennium Force was one of the first giga coasters (300 ft class). Intamin’s cable lift takes trains to about 94 metres; published speed is 150 km/h. There are no inversions. The layout is height, speed and overbanked turns over the waterfront.

It is still the skyline ride you see from the causeway. Top Thrill 2 is now the taller spike; Steel Vengeance is the hybrid everyone talks about on forums. Millennium Force remains the long, fast “this is Cedar Point” coaster for a lot of first-time visitors.

Height is listed at 122 cm (48 in), lower than Steel Vengeance and Maverick, so more of a mixed group can ride it.

What to expect

The cable lift is quicker than a traditional chain. The first drop is the photograph. After that the train stays fast through overbanked turns and hills with no inversions.

Front row is the lake view. Back row is stronger on the drop. Both are a long circuit compared with Stealth-style accelerators.
