ABOUT THIS RIDE
What Jurassic World VelociCoaster is
Opened in 2021 at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, VelociCoaster uses two launches and a 47-metre top hat. Published speed is about 113 km/h, with four inversions. The trains are open-sided, which is why the on-ride video looks faster than a boxed sit-down coaster at the same speed.
It is in the Jurassic World area, so a park day that includes Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure is a walk, not a hop across the resort. Hagrid’s is the family-thrill launch coaster; VelociCoaster is the intense one. Hulk, on Marvel Super Hero Island, is the other inversion-heavy launch if you are collecting all three.
Height is listed at 130 cm (51 in). That is higher than Hagrid’s 122 cm, so mixed groups often split here. Watch the POV for the stall over the water — that is the moment people pause on.
What to expect
Two launches, a top hat, a barrel roll over the water and a series of tight turns make up the layout. It is a long, modern launch coaster rather than a one-gimmick spike.
Front row has the view. Back row adds extra pop on the launches. Both are the full layout; pick based on wait, not because one is a different ride.
