ABOUT THIS RIDE

What Maverick is

Opened in 2007, Maverick was Intamin’s answer to a small plot: a 32-metre lift, a 95-degree drop, then LSM launches and a twisted horseshoe roll. Published speed is about 113 km/h. It is not a skyline ride; it is a low, aggressive one.

Frontier Town also puts you close to Steel Vengeance. A lot of park days do those two as a pair: hybrid airtime then launch canyon. Maverick queues can be long because the trains are small.

Height is 132 cm (52 in), with a maximum height rule on the trains as well. Read Cedar Point’s own chart if you are very tall — this is one of the rides that turns people away at the platform.

What to expect

The first drop is beyond vertical but not especially tall. The second launch into the canyon is the moment the POV is for. Two inversions are part of the published layout.

Trains are short. Front row is the view into the canyon; any row is forceful.
