ABOUT THIS RIDE

What Hyperia is

Hyperia is the ride Thorpe Park built to change its skyline. Published figures put the height around 72 metres and the top speed around 130 km/h, with two inversions. That is taller and faster than The Swarm and a different job from Stealth, which is a short accelerator rather than a full hyper layout.

The setting is the lake edge, so a lot of the course is out over water rather than through a densely themed land. If you are visiting Surrey for one coaster, this is currently the one most people put first on the list.

Opening-year operations can be more stop-start than older rides. Check the park’s app on the day rather than assuming Hyperia is a guaranteed first-hour ride.

What to expect

A tall first drop, airtime hills and two inversions make up the published layout. It is a speed-and-height coaster, not a tightly themed dark ride.

The 130 cm minimum is lower than Stealth’s 140 cm, so some mixed groups can ride Hyperia together and split for Stealth.

FAQ

Hyperia questions

How tall and fast is Hyperia?

About 72 metres / 236 ft and 130 km/h / 81 mph on published figures, with two inversions.

What is the height requirement for Hyperia?

130 cm is the listed minimum.

Is Hyperia scarier than Stealth?

Stealth is a short, sudden launch to a spike. Hyperia is a longer, taller coaster with inversions. They scare people for different reasons — watch both POVs if you are choosing one.
