ABOUT THIS RIDE
What SAW - The Ride is
Opened in 2009, SAW was sold as the world’s first horror-movie roller coaster. The hardware is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter: a vertical lift into a beyond-vertical drop, then a short course of inversions at about 88 km/h.
The queue walks through workshop sets and video clips. That theming is why some guests pick this over Colossus even though both are inversion coasters. If you only want the drop, the POV shows it clearly — it is over in a moment, then the rest of the layout is tight and low.
Thorpe Park’s horror branding is seasonal as well as year-round. SAW – The Ride itself is a permanent coaster, not a scare maze. Height and health rules still apply even if you have walked through Fright Nights mazes the same evening.
What to expect
The 100-degree drop is the headline. After that the train runs a compact mix of inversions and turns close to the theming.
Front row has the clearest view over the drop. The lift is slow, which is part of the wait-and-drop design.
